It’s unbelievable that we have arsenic drinking water.  The presence of arsenic in water is dangerous to our health.

You might be asking how does it get in our water?  Below are some ways arsenic drinking water forms.

• Water that flows through arsenic rich rocks will pick the dangerous substance up and carry it to our water supplies.
• Arsenic is widely distributed through our earth’s crust finding it’s way to our streams, rivers and lakes.
• It is used as a wood preservative and gets into our ground water through industrial waste.

Some of the effects of arsenic in water are:

• Cancer of the skin, lungs, urinary bladder, and kidney
• Skin changes such as thickening (hyperkeratosis) and pigmentation changes
• Hypertension
• Cardiovascular disease,
• Diabetes
• Reproductive disorders
• Neurological problems
• Death

In 2001 the Environmental Protection Agency changed the safe limits from 50 parts per billion (ppb) adopted in 1942 to 10 ppb. This brings the U.S. in line with the standards set by the World Health Organization and the European Union, and provides us with greater protection.

There are membranes that work to filter out the arsenic in the water to meet these safe guidelines.  The question is – does your city have these filters?  Or if you are in a rural area and have your own well, are you equipped with filtration methods that will remove arsenic from water?

I have installed a home water filter in my home that uses the correct filters to remove this dangerous toxin from my faucets.  I don’t trust my health to others who may or may not be as concerned for safety as I am.
